"Marcus is knowledgeable, approachable and an experienced coach. Since training with Marcus I have knocked 4 minutes off my 10k time, improved in technique and confidence and he is now helping me prepare for my first marathon! His sessions are fun and challenging in equal measures and his thought process behind each one thoroughly explained. Would highly recommend Marcus to anyone looking to start or improve their running"

"Passionate about the work he does! Marcus brings the positivity, good vibes and always pushes me to be better. I have shaved off almost 4 minutes from my 5K in the last 3 months and feel that I understand how my body adapts to each run whether that’s interval training or easy runs. Marcus explains every session as well as how it will benefit an overall programme! Get in touch with him if you want to improve your running technique, need someone to hold you accountable or have a new goal in mind, you won’t be disappointed"

"I trained with Marcus for a number of years, which included 9 marathons. I was living overseas at the time which didn’t cause any issues as we communicated virtually. If you are looking for a trainer who will adapt your training to fit into your lifestyle then he is your man. He is knowledgable, approachable and makes you feel like an athlete (even if you are like me and nowhere near his gazelle like pace 😂)!"

"Marcus is not only a fantastic coach but also a genuinely top guy so is always a pleasure to be coached by! I’ve been training with Marcus for several months now and the progress I’ve made has exceeded all expectations. Thanks to the structured drills and tailored sessions we’ve worked on together, I’m running intervals faster and sustaining longer distances than I ever thought possible. Marcus puts careful thought into every session, explaining everything clearly and making it enjoyable with his infectious enthusiasm for running and coaching. His passion and knowledge make each session something to look forward to"

Marcus is an amazing coach and runner. His sessions helped me cut my 5K time by 5 minutes in just a few months. His drills have really improved my technique. Most importantly, however, he has helped me make running more enjoyable and fun! Highly recommended!

Common Questions About Coaching

Online run coaching is personalised running support delivered remotely through a structured training plan, regular communication, performance analysis and accountability.

At Ryse Coaching, your training plan is tailored to your goals, schedule, experience level and injury history. Whether you’re targeting a sub 3 hour marathon, a 30-minute 5K, or your first half marathon, your programme evolves week by week based on your progress.

You get the expertise of a professional running coach without needing in-person sessions.

Our online running coaching process is simple and structured:

  1. You complete an athlete questionnaire.

  2. We schedule a call to clarify your goals.

  3. You receive a personalised training plan.

  4. Weekly adjustments are made based on feedback and data.

  5. Ongoing support is provided via messaging and scheduled check-ins.

Training includes:

  • Heart rate zone guidance

  • Pace targets

  • Race planning

Everything is built around your life, not the other way around.

Yes.

We provide fully personalised marathon training plans online, including:

  • Sub 3 hour marathon preparation

  • First marathon training

  • Boston qualifier attempts

  • Strength integration for endurance performance

Every marathon programme includes:

  • Weekly mileage structure

  • Threshold sessions

  • Long run progressions

  • Race pace strategy

  • Taper planning

No generic PDF plans. Everything adapts to you.

Absolutely.

Whether you’re training for your first 5K or building towards a half marathon, online coaching gives beginners structure and confidence.

We focus on:

  • Gradual volume progression

  • Technique improvement

  • Strength foundations

  • Building aerobic capacity safely

You do not need to be fast to be coached. You just need to be committed.

Yes.

Strength training is built into Ryse Coaching because performance runners must be strong.

Programmes may include:

  • Lower body compound lifts

  • Core stability work

  • Glute activation

  • Single-leg strength

  • Injury prevention exercises

If you’re a hybrid athlete balancing running and lifting, your plan integrates both.

Ryse Coaching is built on three principles:

  1. Structure

  2. Performance

  3. Self-mastery

You are not just given sessions. You are taught to understand your training.

You will learn:

  • Why sessions are programmed

  • How to adjust effort

  • How to manage fatigue

  • How to think like a competitive runner

The goal is not dependence on a coach.

The goal is developing a stronger, more capable athlete.

Start by completing the athlete enquiry form.

From there:

  • We assess your goals

  • We discuss expectations

  • We outline your roadmap

  • We begin structured training

Coaching is not for you if:

You're looking to quick wins

If you’re hoping for instant results or a quick fix, this probably isn’t the right fit. Real progress in running takes time, consistency, and a structured approach. The goal here is to build something that actually lasts, not chase short-term gains that don’t stick.

Not willing to keep consistency

If consistency is something you struggle with, it’ll be hard to get the most out of coaching. The biggest improvements come from showing up week after week, even when motivation dips. This is about building habits you can rely on, not just training when you feel like it.

You jump between plans instead of committing to one

If you find yourself constantly switching between plans, you’re likely holding yourself back. It’s easy to feel like something new will work better, but real progress comes from committing to a system and giving it time to do its job.

You're Perfect for Coaching if:

You want a clear system, not guesswork

If you’re tired of guessing what to do and want a clear, structured plan to follow, this is exactly what Ryse is built for. Every session has a purpose, and everything fits together to help you move forward with confidence.

You're ready to train consistently

If you’re ready to show up, put in the work, and stay consistent over time, you’ll get a lot out of this. You don’t need to be perfect, but you do need to be committed to the process and willing to keep going.

you want to improve and learn how to coach yourself long term

If you want to get better and actually understand your training, not just follow instructions, you’re in the right place. The aim is to help you improve now while giving you the tools and confidence to coach yourself in the long run.
